Ethiopian Airlines Doubles Lagos Flights, Opens New Horizons for African Travel Agents
Ethiopian Airlines is significantly expanding its presence in West Africa by doubling its daily flights from Lagos, starting July 1st. This move opens exciting new opportunities for African travel agents, offering enhanced connectivity and a wider range of travel options for their clients.
With the addition of a second daily flight, Ethiopian Airlines will now operate 14 weekly flights from Lagos, providing seamless connections to a vast network of destinations across Africa and Asia. This expansion represents a strategic move to strengthen regional connectivity and cater to the growing demand for air travel within Africa and beyond.
Travel agents can leverage this expansion to offer their clients more flexible travel itineraries and access to a wider range of destinations. The increased frequency of flights allows for greater convenience and reduced travel times, making it easier for travelers to connect to key cities across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
The new flight schedule introduces three distinct departure times from Lagos. Four evening flights will depart at 10:00 PM, while three morning flights will take off at 5:40 AM. The existing daily midday flight will remain unchanged, providing even more flexibility for travelers.
The evening departure, flight ET 902, will arrive in Addis Ababa at 5:20 AM, offering immediate connections to various African destinations, as well as Dubai, São Paulo, and Tel Aviv. The morning departure, flight ET 904, arriving in Addis Ababa at 1:00 PM, will connect seamlessly with afternoon departures to destinations such as Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Istanbul, Rome, and Athens.
Ethiopian Airlines is sweetening the deal for travelers with a range of added benefits. Passengers flying to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Madras, and Dubai will enjoy increased baggage allowance. In addition, all passengers on these expanded routes can earn “double double miles” through the airline’s loyalty program.
These enhancements are designed to reward loyal passengers and attract new customers, further solidifying Ethiopian Airlines’ position as a leading carrier in the African aviation market. For travel agents, these benefits translate into increased value for their clients and a stronger selling proposition.
Ethiopian Airlines’ long-standing presence in Nigeria, dating back to 1960, underscores its commitment to the West African market. The airline’s modern fleet, including the A350-1000 and B787 Dreamliner, connects Lagos to over 140 global destinations, providing unparalleled access to key markets.
This expansion not only strengthens Ethiopian Airlines’ position as a major player in the African aviation industry but also creates significant opportunities for travel agents to expand their businesses and offer their clients a wider range of travel solutions. By capitalizing on this enhanced connectivity and attractive benefits package, travel agents can tap into the growing demand for air travel and position themselves for success in the dynamic African travel market.
