Enugu Air and XEJet Partnership Takes Off, Transforming SE Nigeria’s Connectivity
Enugu Air, the ambitious new airline backed by the Enugu State Government, is set to launch commercial operations on July 7, 2025. This exciting development marks a significant step towards enhancing air connectivity in southeastern Nigeria and beyond. The airline’s launch is a key element of Governor Peter Mbah’s vision to modernize the region’s transport infrastructure and stimulate economic growth.
In a strategic partnership with established Nigerian carrier XEJet Limited, Enugu Air will initially operate flights under XEJet's Air Operator Certificate (AOC). This collaborative approach allows Enugu Air to commence services while it progresses towards securing its own AOC. XEJet, known for its premium business-class services and expanding fleet, will provide operational management, aircraft, and crew for Enugu Air's initial flights.
Enugu Air’s fleet begins with two Embraer E170s, sourced from CIAF Leasing, and has recently added its first Embraer E190, leased from Regional One, Inc. This new acquisition, which arrived in Lagos on June 28, 2025, strengthens the airline’s capacity and underscores its commitment to providing reliable and efficient air travel. The E190 is renowned for its passenger comfort, featuring spacious 2+2 seating, large windows, and a high cabin ceiling. It is also well-suited for regional operations, offering a balance of capacity and range.
The partnership between Enugu Air and XEJet is a crucial element of Enugu State’s broader transport modernization strategy.
