Seychelles Nature Trail Gains Global Momentum as 2026 Edition Invites Runners Worldwide Seychelles Nature Trail Gains Global Momentum as 2026 Edition Invites Runners Worldwide

Ms Bernadette Honoré, Senior Marketing Executive for the Réunion and Indian Ocean Market at Tourism Seychelles, has highlighted the Seychelles Nature Trail (SNT) as a signature event designed to draw trail runners from international, regional, and local communities. According to Honoré, the trail not only welcomes seasoned athletes but also encourages Seychellois participants to discover and connect with their homeland’s wild natural beauty through sport.

“The Seychelles Nature Trail is a powerful showcase of our islands’ unique granitic landscapes and serves as a pivotal force in establishing Seychelles as a leading destination for nature and sport tourism,” Honoré explained. “This edition features one of our most diverse routes yet, offering a blend of athletic intensity and breathtaking, picture-perfect scenery that is sure to captivate participants of all backgrounds.”

The growing international appeal of the Seychelles Nature Trail is underscored by the fact that nearly a third of participants in the most recent edition were runners from Asia, Africa, and Europe. Honoré noted that the event has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from international partners, further solidifying its reputation on the global trail-running circuit. This acclaim is positioning Seychelles as not just a tropical paradise but as a destination where adventure and pristine nature intersect seamlessly.

“In response to this rising interest, we are launching the call for participation early, giving runners from around the world ample time to plan their travel and secure their place,” Honoré said. This proactive approach aims to accommodate growing international demand and to ensure that the upcoming event on Mahé in May 2026 continues to set new benchmarks for sports tourism in the Indian Ocean region.

For Africa’s tourism professionals, the Seychelles Nature Trail exemplifies how targeted sporting events can drive international arrivals and diversify a destination’s appeal. As more African destinations look to enhance their experiential tourism offerings, Seychelles’ strategy offers valuable lessons on leveraging natural assets and global partnerships to create compelling, sustainable tourism products.
