Air Senegal cancels launch of Accra, reduces several African and European destinations

Contrary to what was planned, Air Senegal still does not serve Ghana. The launch of its Dakar - Accra route, which was to take place on 2 September 2022, has been postponed indefinitely.
According to Aeroroutes, Air Senegal plans to reduce its service on several corridors during the winter of 2022/2023. The first is Dakar - Barcelona (Spain) which, from 22 September, will be reduced from 3 to 2 weekly flights. On the other hand, the third flight, which was initially scheduled to be reinstated on 6 December, has finally been cancelled. The aircraft operated for the occasion will also be changed, with the A220-300 replacing the A319 from 30 October. Dakar - Milan Malpensa (Italy) will be reduced from 4 to 3 weekly flights from 3 October, and the A220-300 will replace the A321 from 23 January 2023. The following day, Dakar - Casablanca (Morocco) will be reduced from 6 to 5 weekly flights, with the A319 replacing the A220-300 from 31 October. Finally, the 4th weekly flight that was to be added on Dakar - Marseille - Lyon, from 8 December, will no longer be added. On the other hand, the A319 and A321 operating on the route to the two French cities will not be replaced. This reduction in services could be the consequence of the decommissioning of one of its two A319s after a collision with a catering truck at Barcelona International Airport on 30 August. But also the arrival of a new CEO on 12 July, who reviewed the strategic orientations of the company, which is experiencing some financial and technical difficulties.
