TAAG Angola Airlines plans to return to Porto next winter TAAG Angola Airlines plans to return to Porto next winter

TAAG Angola Airlines had inaugurated service to Porto in July 2011, becoming its second destination in Portugal after Lisbon. The route was subsequently suspended in 2020 amid the health crisis.

TAAG Angola Airlines is expected to re-launch its route between Luanda and Porto, for an initial period of two months, from the end of the year.

The Angolan state-owned carrier has scheduled three weekly flights, from 12 to 23 December 2022, and from 2 to 15 January 2023. It will operate a mixed A330(leased) / Boeing 777-300ER fleet.  The rotation is scheduled on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Once reopened, this will be the only route linking Porto to an African capital. The Portuguese city is currently linked to Agadir and Marrakech by Ryanair, as well as to Sal (Cape Verde) by the Madrid-based charter company Privilege Style.

In its expansion plan, TAAG Angola Airlines also plans to re-launch Havana (on November 8), Accra (on November 9, after 15 years of absence) and Pointe-Noire (on December 12); to open Durban (on November 17); and to increase its services to Spain and Portugal.
