NCDMB Strengthens Anti-Corruption Efforts
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is enhancing its commitment to combat corruption within its operations and interactions with stakeholders.
Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Executive Secretary, emphasized this dedication during a recent event in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, marking International Anti-Corruption Day. To address corruption, the NCDMB has established a robust Anti-Corruption Unit (ACTU-NCDMB) and partnered with the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria for staff training in corruption prevention and risk assessment. Ogbe noted that the Board is conducting corruption risk assessments across various functions, including procurement and human resources, to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
Ogbe urged staff to uphold integrity and protect the institution from corruption, while also raising awareness among youth about the dangers of corrupt practices. The ACTU Chairman, Alhaji Abdulmalik Halilu, praised the support for anti-corruption initiatives and highlighted the creation of a Projects Inspectorate Directorate to enhance project execution. To celebrate International Anti-Corruption Day, the NCDMB hosted a debate competition among federal government colleges, aiming to empower the next generation in the fight against corruption. Federal Government College Warri emerged victorious, with students receiving laptops and plaques as prizes.
Additional activities included a presentation by the Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Mrs. Ekere Usiere, who encouraged citizens to overcome barriers to whistleblowing and leverage technology to report corruption. The NCDMB has been recognized for its integrity and service delivery, earning accolades as the Best Performing Agency in transparency and efficiency from 2022 to 2024.
