AviaDev Africa 2025 to Showcase Zanzibar’s Aviation and Tourism Potential
The 2025 edition of AviaDev Africa is scheduled to take place in Zanzibar from June 11th to 13th, with preparations already underway. In an exclusive interview, John Howell, CEO and founder of AviaDev Africa, spoke with Seif Juma, Director General of the Zanzibar Airports Authority (ZAA), about the significance of the event for the region’s aviation and tourism sectors.
Seif emphasized that hosting AviaDev in Zanzibar serves as a platform to connect the island globally and promote its tourism offerings, including beautiful beaches, rich history, and vibrant culture. He expressed excitement about welcoming international visitors to experience everything Zanzibar has to offer. Regarding air connectivity, Seif shared that Zanzibar currently accommodates over two million passengers annually, growing by over 30% each year. He noted that new airlines are frequently entering the market, enhancing the island's connectivity and tourism potential. To support this growth, the ZAA is investing significantly in infrastructure, including the construction of two new terminals to meet rising demand.
These developments have earned the ZAA accolades, including awards for excellence in food and beverage services and recognition as the best African airport handling fewer than two million passengers. Seif views AviaDev as a key opportunity to attract new markets, particularly from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, while also collaborating with tourism commissions to draw more visitors from Africa. Beyond the conference, attendees will have the chance to explore Zanzibar's historical sites, such as Stone Town and its Sultan Palaces, and engage with the island’s renowned spice farms. Visitors can also enjoy its pristine beaches and natural attractions like Jozani Forest. With careful planning in progress, AviaDev Africa 2025 is set to be a crucial event that combines business opportunities with Zanzibar’s rich culture and stunning landscapes.
