eThekwini Municipality Updates Beach and Swimming Pool Status for Durban
The eThekwini Municipality, which oversees the governance and management of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, has released an updated status report as of December 24, 2024, regarding local beaches and swimming pools. The report indicates that 21 beaches in Durban are currently open and deemed safe for swimming. However, two beaches remain closed due to concerns related to water quality. In addition to the beaches, there are 33 swimming pools throughout Durban that are open and accessible to the public. The following beaches are confirmed to be open for swimming, with operating hours from 06:00 to 18:30:

On the other hand, the beaches that are currently closed for swimming include:
- Country Club
- Anstey's Beach
It is worth noting that while swimming is prohibited at the closed beaches, other recreational activities are still permitted.
