Camair-Co Boosts Douala-Libreville Route with Fourth Weekly Flight
Camair-Co, Cameroon’s national airline, has announced the addition of a fourth weekly flight on its Douala-Libreville route, starting 24 March 2025. Operated by a Boeing 737-700, this expansion aims to strengthen the airline’s regional presence and enhance connectivity between Cameroon and Gabon.
The Douala-Libreville route is a competitive one, with Camair-Co facing strong competition from Afrijet Business Service, which operates 10 weekly flights using ATR aircraft. Afrijet currently offers a total of 630 seats per week on the route, compared to Camair-Co’s 435 seats. The new flight will help Camair-Co close the gap and provide passengers with additional travel options.
This development forms part of Camair-Co’s broader regional growth strategy, which includes key destinations such as N'Djamena, Bangui, and Cotonou. The airline is also planning to resume its long-haul services, including a highly anticipated return to Paris in 2025, highlighting its ambition to reclaim its position as a major player in the African aviation market.
To support its expansion, Camair-Co has strengthened its fleet with the acquisition of a Boeing 737-700 through an ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) lease agreement with Smartwings. This addition will provide the airline with the capacity and flexibility needed to meet growing passenger demand across its network.
For African travel professionals, this move by Camair-Co opens up new opportunities for regional travel, connecting passengers more effectively across Central and West Africa. With the airline’s ongoing efforts to expand its fleet and route network, it is positioning itself as a key competitor in the region, offering enhanced options for both business and leisure travelers.
As Camair-Co continues to execute its growth strategy, this latest development signals its commitment to improving regional connectivity while setting the stage for its reemergence on the international aviation scene.
