Tanzania Government Reassures International Tourists Amid Misleading Reports Tanzania Government Reassures International Tourists Amid Misleading Reports

At a press conference held in Dar es Salaam, Government spokesperson and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Gerson Msigwa, delivered a reassuring message aimed at dispelling concerns raised by recent misleading international media reports about Tanzania’s safety and tourism environment.

Msigwa emphasized Tanzania’s ongoing peace, stability, and openness to visitors, highlighting the country’s world-renowned destinations such as Mount Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Dar es Salaam, and Zanzibar. Addressing tourists directly, he urged them to disregard misinformation that could distract from the rich and safe experiences Tanzania offers.

“Our destinations are safe, our accommodations are improving every day, and our hospitality and transportation ensure that your journey is comfortable and memorable,” Msigwa stated. He reaffirmed the government’s full commitment to safeguarding visitors, their companions, and their financial interests during their stay.

Countering claims of rising instability, Msigwa described such narratives as “misleading and detached from the reality on the ground.” He detailed the strong internal security framework supported by coordination among national agencies, regional authorities, and tourism operators. Key tourist corridors, including the Northern Circuit parks and coastal areas, continue to operate normally with steady visitor arrivals.

The briefing also highlighted ongoing government investments in aviation, transport infrastructure, and hospitality services aimed at enhancing visitor safety and comfort. Improvements include upgraded roads to national parks, expanded airport facilities, and strengthened tourism policing units, reinforcing Tanzania’s reputation as one of Africa’s safest travel destinations.

Closing the conference, Msigwa called on foreign media to practice responsible journalism and encouraged tourists to seek information from credible, verified sources. “With or without headlines,” he concluded, “Tanzania continues to welcome guests with warmth, stability, and unmatched natural beauty.”
