Air Peace Clarifies Lagos–São Paulo Route Plans Amid Misinformation Air Peace Clarifies Lagos–São Paulo Route Plans Amid Misinformation

Air Peace has firmly rejected recent claims suggesting the airline misled the public regarding the launch of a direct flight service between Lagos and São Paulo. The carrier described these reports as false and misleading, emphasizing that no immediate flight operations have been announced or ticket sales initiated.

The airline clarified that ongoing discussions between Nigeria and Brazil are based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing aviation cooperation between the two countries. However, Air Peace stressed that an MoU does not equate to an immediate commencement of flights. This distinction is crucial, as launching a long-haul international route involves a complex and time-consuming process, including regulatory approvals, airport slot negotiations, safety certifications, and detailed commercial planning in both nations.

Management highlighted that no passengers have been stranded due to the absence of confirmed flight schedules or ticket sales. The airline also pointed out that it already operates wide-body aircraft on international routes such as London, and has the capacity to deploy additional aircraft once all necessary approvals for the Brazil route are secured.

Addressing concerns about airfare pricing, Air Peace noted that international ticket prices are influenced by global market dynamics rather than preliminary diplomatic agreements. The airline reaffirmed that preparations for the Lagos–São Paulo service are ongoing in collaboration with Nigerian and Brazilian authorities, but operations will only commence once all safety and commercial requirements are fully met.

Air Peace’s management urged the public and media to rely on verified information and avoid sensationalism that could undermine confidence in Nigerian aviation businesses. They described the misleading reports as deliberate attempts to apply pressure and discredit the airline, warning against media manipulation that could harm the industry’s reputation.

With the aviation sector in Africa poised for growth, Air Peace’s cautious and transparent approach to expanding its international network reflects the complexities involved in establishing new long-haul routes. The airline’s commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and clear communication sets a positive example for the continent’s carriers as they navigate evolving market opportunities.

As Nigeria and Brazil continue to strengthen their aviation ties, the eventual launch of the Lagos–São Paulo route promises to open new avenues for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. For now, Air Peace remains focused on ensuring all operational prerequisites are in place before formally announcing and commencing flights, safeguarding passenger interests and maintaining industry standards.
