Air Senegal will operate to Milan next month
Struck by the health crisis, Air Senegal wants to breathe new life into itself. The Senegalese pavilion has begun the phase of reconstruction and expansion of its international network.
From February 17, Air Senegal will open a direct route between Dakar and Milan-Malpensa. The Senegalese national carrier will offer 3 weekly flights (Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday) between the Senegalese capital and the Italian city.
The flight will be operated by Airbus A321-200 with 165 seats (16 in Business class and 149 in Economy class), leased from Carlyle Aviation Partners. "The opening of this strategic destination, fits perfectly with the new relaunch plan of our national flag as well, it contributes to the strengthening of economic and diplomatic relations between Italy and Senegal", commented the general manager of Air Senegal. Ibrahima Kane. This flight will connect direct transit from Dakar to Abidjan, Bamako, Conakry, Banjul, Ziguinchor, and Nouakchott.
The company will compete with the Italian private carrier Blue Panorama, present on the corridor (Dakar-Milan Bergamo) since October 23, 2020. It currently offers two weekly rotations (Mondays and Fridays).
On the old continent, the Senegalese airline will also launch from March 28, a new service to Lyon. The route will be offered 3 times a week. In Europe, it already serves Paris, Marseille and Barcelona. Before the crisis, Air Senegal was planning two new connections (in June 2020) to London and Geneva. Transatlantic routes including Washington and New York in the United States were also included in its growth plan for last year.
