RwandAir returns to London after 5 months absence
Rwanda remains on the red list of countries whose nationals are banned from entering the UK. The list includes more than 50 countries, mainly in South America and Africa, where the risk of coronavirus infection is high, according to the British authorities. Other African countries on the list are: Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Cape Verde, DRC, Egypt, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tunisia, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Thus, RwandAir will only be able to carry British and Irish citizens, or those with residence rights (including long-term visa holders), returning from these countries. However, they will have to undergo a 10-day quarantine in a government-approved hotel and undergo two Covid-19 tests on days 2 and 8.
Also allowed to enter the UK are nationals from the following green-listed countries: Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Israel, Jerusalem, Brunei. Malta, Madeira, the Balearic Islands, as well as several British Overseas Territories and the Caribbean islands including Barbados.
In addition, there are nationals of countries on the so-called "orange" intermediate list. This list includes nearly 170 countries. Nationals from these territories must also undergo a 10-day quarantine, but this time at home and undergo two Covid-19 tests on the 2nd and 8th day. However, the UK offers the possibility to break the quarantine after the 5th day under specific conditions.
