You can visit SA’s national parks for free this week – and this new digital tour can help
South Africa’s 16th annual National Parks Week runs from 22 to 28 November and coincides with the launch of a new website that takes visitors on a digital tour of the country’s 19 parks.
SA National Parks Week is traditionally held in September. But for the second year in a row, South African National Parks (SANParks) has postponed the event to November due to the Covid-19 pandemic and associated lockdown restrictions.
The campaign, first started in 2006, “is meant to cultivate a sense of pride in South Africa's natural, cultural, and historical heritage and a deeper appreciation of biodiversity,” said SANParks Acting Chief Executive Officer, Luthando Dziba.
