French traveler Roulfen-Forest Jason shared reflections on his immersive 20-day journey, which began in the vibrant capital, Addis Ababa, and spanned regions such as Amhara, Tigray, and the dramatic Danakil Depression in Afar. His trip culminated in participation at the iconic Timket Festival (Ethiopian Epiphany), a highlight of Ethiopia’s cultural calendar.

Jason was particularly struck by the genuine warmth of Ethiopians, describing how locals engaged with visitors “as if we were friends.” This sense of connection permeated even remote rural areas, underscoring the country’s reputation for hospitality. He praised the country’s diverse landscapes and rich wildlife, emphasizing Ethiopia’s immense potential as a trekking and adventure destination. Jason also highlighted the historical significance of Aksum, expressing awe at the royal tombs and deep heritage embedded in the city. German tourist Ras Sascha echoed similar sentiments, describing Ethiopia as “a special place” and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to explore its northern Christian heritage sites.
